What are the KnightMare 2011 Summer Chess Camps?

KnightMare 2011 Summer Chess Camps are a structured week of concentrated chess instruction for beginning, intermediate and advanced scholastic chess players.  The goal of our summer chess camps is to have young chess players ready to compete in local and state scholastic chess competitions.

Chess camp participants are grouped by similar skill and age groups for lessons focusing on various aspects of chess, including chess notation and chess etiquette. 

Chess Learning Center students learn, study and practice in a non‑threatening yet, challenging environment where fair play, personal integrity and sportsmanship are taught as essential elements of the game.  We understand how important it is for a young chess player to sustain his/her energy level and ability to concentrate on learning and retention, throughout the camp day.  To guarantee the proper body-mind functioning, our chess camps are designed to provide students with two health-conscious snacks and a hot mid-day lunch.

All chess camp participants will receive a comprehensive Chess Learn Workbook covering, in detail, the lessons and example used during the chess camp.

For beginning, intermediate and advanced scholastic chess players
Girls and Boys - 1^st through 12^th grades 

 “To succeed in scholastic chess,
players must learn and develop new tactical skills.”

To have fun! 

Not only are these chess camps fun, they will assist your young chess player in developing a broader understanding of key chess concepts in addition to tactical ideas such as pins, forks, skewers and counter attacks. 

By the end of the week, students will have a new sense of how to employ chess maneuvers such as en passant, opposition and tempo to gain a competitive advantage.
