USCF Tournament Information

 Dates: Friday thru Saturday, December 13-15, 2002
Location: Hilton Atlanta Hotel -  Atlanta, Georgia
Details:

This tournament has grown to be one of the U.S. Chess Federation's (USCF) most popular scholastic events.

Master Instructor, F. Leon Wilson, will take a group from Central Ohio to the national championships.  Hotel accommodations are available upon request.

 

USCF Tournament Format

  • 6 Round Swiss System Team/Individual in 13 sections by grade
    ..
  • You play only in your own grade.
    ..
  • No eliminations — you play opponents with approximately the same score as you.
    ..
  • Team score in each section is total of top 3 finishers from same school.
    ..
  • Time Control: Game/90.
    ..
  • The December rating list <http://www.64.com/uscf/ratings/> will be used.
    ..
  • One 1/2 point bye is allowed in any round except six if requested in advance.
    ..
  • Chess Sets & Boards are supplied  -  bring a chess clock if you have one.
    ..
  • Players must be eligible to play in accordance with USCF Scholastic Regulations <http://www.uschess.org/scholastic/sc-Regs2001.pdf>.

USCF Trophies
  • At least 10 trophies to top individuals in each grade.
    ..
  • At least 5 trophies to top teams in each grade.
    ..
  • Many Class Trophies.
    ..
  • Place trophies take precedence over class trophies.
    ..
  • The first place players and teams in each grade will be recognized as National Champions.

  • K-12 Blitz   Friday 9:30 a.m. In 2 sections: K-6 and K-12 Entry Fee $10 by 11/18, $20 after. On Site registration closes 9 a.m.

    Entry Fee $10 per player by 11/18, $20 after. On site registration closes 1 p.m.

Ground Transportation

Take the Marta train <http://www.itsmarta.com/> from the airport to the Peachtree Center Exit. The fare is $1.75 per person and takes less than half an hour to reach the Hilton Atlanta Hotel. A skywalk connects the Peachtree Center to a parking lot next door to the Hilton Atlanta.
